Poetry

I'm no poet...most of these were done in English class years ago and I somehow managed to work CATS into most of them.

Macavity's Lament
Inspired by "Where's the Girl?" from Scarlet Pimpernel (I love that song!) but written to the tune of "Memory." It's up to you to decide who he's talking about: Bombalurina, Demeter, or someone else. I wasn't very specific.

Blessed Curse
In class we had to write a sonnet, and choosing two cats who I don't think have been given their due respect by me I wrote about Coricopat and Tantomile, following my theory of their slight "emotional unstableness" because of their heightened abilities. The thing about the bloodline, well...that's another twisted theory of mine.

Manhattan
Another assignment was to write about a city in the future, so of course I chose Manhattan: home of Broadway. Excepting the little things that we were "required" to write, I like the idea about CATS I worked into it...especially the last verse.

Into the Shire
A rewrite of "Into the Fire" from the Scarlet Pimpernel. Done for a friend originally (who must be one of the top ten biggest Tolkien fans on the planet!) this was just a joke talking about hobbits and how much they loved their food. But also I managed to work in some references to the unbelievable amount of Lord of the Rings slash fanfics I have found on the 'Net. Especially about my favorite character Haldir...c'mon, people!

The Twelve Days of CATS-mas
This is why I'll never be a lyricist...

Hopefully more to come...
