The Naming of Cats
I really don't like to complain...but nothing bugs me more than when people who claim to be CATS fans get their characters' names mixed up. This is a section (for my benefit as well) to get some character mix-ups cleared. I know that when I first saw the video I got almost half the names mixed up. Example: Alonzo was Plato, Cassandra was Electra, and Tumblebrutus was Alonzo. I'll start with the video and add from there...

If you have any questions or know for a fact that I'm dead wrong about some of these, please let me know so I won't look like a bigger idiot.

 and
Pouncival... I know the cat was labeled "Pouncival" on the video, but the truth is that the video Pouncival is really London's own Carbucketty. I don't know if it was an intentional change or some dimwit who didn't know what they were doing messed things up. Probably intentional, since I'm sure the movie was reviewed (but then again, they did say Jo Gibb and Drew Varley were dubbed--and they were, visit Ramblings for info). Anyway, the picture on the left is Carbucketty, and on the right is the true Pouncival from Broadway. They look nothing alike. Personalities, however, are a different story. There was a Carbucketty on Broadway when the show first started, but he was taken out for some reason. (Info on that relayed to me via Practical Cat: "Carbucketty played all the parts of Mungojerrie (including his song and his "Genghis/Gilbert" role) and changed costumes for his song. Carbucketty was later taken out, and the "Mungojerrie" character through the whole show was born.")

 and
Admetus and Plato.... On the video the cat who danced the Mating Dance with Victoria and doubled as Macavity wasn't even named, but the majority have called him Plato. Perhaps another intentional name change, but Plato (on the right) is really the tom who doubles as Macavity in Broadway and a lot of other productions. In London (and should be on the Video) this cat's name is Admetus. The two look nothing alike. However, since the productions seemed to have been merged for the video, and most of the cast lists say Plato instead of Admetus, it could very well be Plato who dances with Victoria on the video. I, for one, fail to see any logic in that.

 and
Tumblebrutus and Bill Bailey.... (Respectively) Essentially the same, the two are very similar in coloring and personality. They are both colored a base white with brown markings, most obvious being the large brown patch over the right eye. Only Bill Bailey seems to have more brown marks. The main thing that separates them is location. Tumblebrutus is on Broadway and most other productions while Bill Bailey inhabits London. On the video, Bill Bailey was used, but his name turned to Tumblebrutus. (Sources tell me the productions were merged, and that the name changes were intentional.)

 and
Sillabub and Jemima.... (Respectively) Fairly close to Tumblebrutus and Bill Bailey, these two kitten queens are almost identical, only location making them different. Jemima is featured in London and the Video while Sillabub is Broadway and most other productions. They can probably be most effeciently identified by their makeup patterns. Jemima's is much more definate with the wide eyes and white "muzzle". Also, most Sillabubs possess warmers on their arms while Jemimas have the same slim opera-type gloves as some of the older queens.

 and
George and Victor... First picture, respectively. Two cats not always considered. Both found only in London, only one of them made it into the CATS Video: George (I'm not sure, so don't quote me on that...could be Victor), who doubled as the Rumpus Cat. His coloring scheme was altered somewhat, making him look like the picture on the right. Although, if you check the actual cast list for the video, this cat's name is Admetus.

This is Alonzo that does most of the Macavity-fighting in a lot of CATS productions...not Munkustrap like in the Video.

Extra thanks to Feliciradeya for reminding me of some characters.
