Letter From The Mayor's Office
The City of New York
Office of the Mayor
New York, NY  10007

September 10, 2000

Dear Friends:

On behalf of all New Yorkers I extend heartfelt congratulations to all involved for an unsurpassed 18-year run on Broadway. Over the course of 7,485 performances CATS has had an economic impact of $3.5 billion dollars on the City's economy, making it the single largest generator of income and jobs in Broadway's history. Thousands of New York City high school students have been introduced to the pleasures of live theater through free tickets to CATS provided by the Shubert Organization over the last two decades.

For the 10 million people who have seen CATS on Broadway and the thousands of New Yorkers whose lives and careers were affected by the extraordinary CATS phenomenon, congratulations and thank you.

                                    Sincerely,

                                    Rudolph W. Giuliani
                                        Mayor
