Unitards
After the show closed on Broadway I managed to purchase via the Internet two authentic unitards worn in the show at some point: Skimbleshanks and Alonzo.

Skimbleshanks Front / Back

The tag on this one says it was worn by someone named Magrady (spelled on the tag "MAgRADY") who I guess at one point was an understudy. The unitard seems kind of old as some of the lighter parts are very dingy and thin and the limbs are quite stretched out with a lot of stitchwork.

Info related to me via [email protected]: "That must be Jack Magrady's Skimbleshanks costume.  He was a swing during the mid-to-late-80's." (This was after he threatened to tell Billy Sprague I said he was short...) Thanks!

Alonzo Front / Back

This unitard was worn by Sprague, who would by none other than Billy Sprague, Jr. from the last cast on Broadway. Needless to say, it is quite new as the last cast was performing in 2000 and seems very brightly colored and sturdy compared to the other. Unlike the Skimbleshanks unitard, this one has black "feet" attached to it and though there are the buttons to hold up leg warmers, I have none to put there. And this unitard fits me pretty well, so it seems that Sprague must have been a fairly small guy. (Sorry!)

Closeups of the Alonzo unitard are available upon request for those wishing to make their own Broadway Alonzo costume. Just e-mail me and they will be sent to you. The photos are to be used for costuming purposes only!
