| Munkustrap... Just the knowledge of hearing his name says it all. Who can't but like CATS's narrator and the Jellicle Tribe's protector? A flash of silver-gray stripes, and he's always there. Whether it be to comfort the kittens during a Macavity scare or to brief the audience on what's going on, this tabby knows his duty and just how to do it. Sadly, this popular Jellicle has no song of his own, but lends his miraculous voice for the praising of others. Perhaps someday a good poet will write Munkustrap his due, but until then I'll have to be content with tributes and fanfics. |

| On a more personal level, Munkustrap is definitely one of the most popular characters among CATS fans. Perhaps it's his position of authority, or the control he holds in the junkyard, or (in some opinion) how good those stripes look. He's been portrayed with several queens: Cassandra, Demeter, and Bombalurina for example. (Look out, Tugger. You've got competition!) Personally I think Demeter would be the best pick for him--to protect her if nothing else--but a good fan keeps an open mind about those kinds of things. Anywhere you look Munkustrap is a distinguished, respectable fellow (except for perhaps the above picture *grin*), putting others before himself, and we here at the theatre love him for it. |
